A majority-rural state, Mississippi is among the highest ranking states for early childhood education opportunity and enrollment. However, with a record of low academic performance, under-funding, and a shortage of school administrators, Mississippi schools face significant challenges. Through partnerships with local advocates and policy-makers in Mississippi and neighboring states, Mississippi has made several far-reaching decisions in recent years to support all students and schools and address inequities facing Mississippi students.
