Supports & Interventions in Illinois Schools: Participation, Preparation, and What Comes Next

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has embraced both the requirement under ESSA and the spirit of intent that meaningful engagement with a range of stakeholders throughout the processes of policy planning and implementation is essential to ensure the best possible state level planning and outcomes for all Illinois students. In collaboration with Partners for Each and Every Child (Partners for), ISBE and state-level advocates and experts have participated in a process of ongoing and meaningful engagement, with an eye toward continuous improvement.

As a part of this process of engagement, Partners for collaborated with a group of Illinois advocacy organizations to convene district leaders in Illinois’ highest-need districts to begin a conversation around comprehensive and targeted support and intervention strategies under ESSA.
