Serving more than 900,000 students, Colorado has endeavored to build a strong and integrated early childhood education program and ranks among the highest in the nation for offering students a “chance for success,” according to EdWeek’s Quality Counts 2017. With a majority of school districts in rural settings and a strong investment in school infrastructure, Colorado schools include over 300 innovation, charter, and online schools. However, with a decreasing comparative investment in public education, a poor record for teacher wages, and an increasing public school student population, a growing number of policy-makers, advocates, families, and researchers must be invested in making changes in Colorado schools using creative and collaborative ways. Organizations working in Colorado with leaders who sat on the original Equity and Excellence Commission remain strong Partners for network partners.
